The first of two Creative Arts Emmy ceremonies took place Wednesday evening at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, honoring technical and artistic achievements in television. Leading into Emmy week, HBO’s medical drama “The Pitt” topped the nomination list with 25 bids, including Outstanding Drama Series and 13 acting nominations for star Noah Wyle. The show’s total nearly doubled its 13 nominations from the previous year.
“The Pitt” was closely trailed by HBO Max’s “Hacks,” which received 24 nominations for its fifth season, setting a record for the most nods ever earned by a comedy series. Jean Smart, the show’s star, is now positioned to secure her fifth Emmy for “Hacks” and her eighth overall, potentially tying the record for the most Emmy acting wins in history.
Among the previously announced juried awards, Adult Swim’s “Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal” received two Emmys for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation. NBC’s “The Traitors” and Fox’s “The Masked Singer” were also honored with awards for Outstanding Costumes for Variety, Nonfiction, or Reality Programming.
A star-studded lineup of presenters appeared on the first night, including Nyesha Arrington, Brittany Broski, Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio, Sean Evans, R’Bonney Gabriel, Bill Glass, Colin Hanks, Brianna LaPaglia, Ariana Madix, Heather McMahan, Julianne Hough, Julie Chen Moonves, Kareem Rahma, Lisa Rinna, Stassi Schroeder, Wanda Sykes, Chris “CT” Tamburello, Jet Tila, Whitney Way Thore, and West Wilson.
