Nigel Farage’s senior aide, Dan Jukes, was filmed by undercover Channel 4 reporters proposing a way to bypass UK electoral law to secure a £500,000 foreign donation for Reform UK, according to broadcasts by BBC and other outlets.
Jukes was recorded meeting with an undercover reporter posing as the British-based son of a wealthy American businessman. Electoral law requires that permissible donors to UK political parties must be UK registered voters or companies registered in Britain. The fabricated son would qualify as a permissible donor while his father would not.
The footage, produced by a group called Verbatim Investigations, shows Jukes suggesting outside a Westminster pub that the donation could be made in the son’s name despite originating from his American father. “You do realise that you can do it?” Jukes is heard saying. He later claimed the party had employed this mechanism previously, though specific details were bleeped out.
Reform UK has launched an internal investigation into Jukes. The party denies any wrongdoing and claims to have been targeted by a hoax orchestrated by foreign-funded climate change activists.
Additional Channel 4 footage showed a lunch in Clacton, Essex, where both the undercover reporters and Reform UK leader Nigel Farage were present. Farage stated “it’s all above board” after learning about discussions between Jukes and Reform’s Head of Policy James Orr regarding the donation arrangement.
Orr is also subject to an internal Reform UK investigation. Jukes’ current status as a party spokesperson has not been confirmed.
This is deeply concerning. If true, it undermines the integrity of our entire electoral system.
They claim it’s a hoax, but the footage looks damning. How can they deny this?
