At the border between Nepal and China, flash floods have laid waste to the town of Timure, marking it as the region’s hardest-hit area. The deluge has left bodies scattered throughout the community, posing a grim challenge for emergency responders and forensic experts alike.
Due to the severity of the destruction, many of the deceased are described as dismembered, decomposed, or stripped of their clothing, rendering traditional identification methods ineffective. Consequently, forensic teams are turning to DNA testing to establish the identities of the victims.
It is heartbreaking to see DNA testing required for identification after such a tragedy. My thoughts are with the families in Timure.
