President Donald Trump is scheduled to sign an executive order concerning the beef industry this Friday, the White House confirmed.
The upcoming action follows a policy shift announced last month, in which the administration paused increased tariffs on ground beef imports for a 90-day period. Under this arrangement, up to 300,000 metric tons of the product are permitted to enter the United States without being subject to the higher out-of-quota tariff rates.
Finally, some relief for grocery budgets. Hopefully this keeps meat prices stable for families.
Is this just a temporary fix? 90 days isn’t enough time to stabilize the entire supply chain.
What about domestic ranchers? I hope this doesn’t hurt local producers who’ve been struggling already.
Surprised they didn’t wait longer. Seems like political timing rather than economic strategy to me.
