Trump Bans MS NOW, CNN, and Politico From White House

President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he is prohibiting MS NOW, CNN, and Politico from entering the White House, citing their reporting on his administration. The decision marks a significant escalation in his ongoing conflict with the press.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump accused the outlets of perpetuating “FICTION and LIES,” though he did not specify particular articles or reports. He added that other media organizations producing “Fake News” would likely face similar restrictions.

This action represents a more severe measure than previous disputes. While Trump has previously attempted to block Associated Press journalists from the Oval Office and Air Force One over their use of the name “Gulf of Mexico” instead of “Gulf of America,” that specific ban was struck down by a federal judge in April 2025. The ruling determined the restriction violated the First Amendment, and an appeal against that decision remains pending.

Legal experts anticipate that barring these outlets could invite fresh constitutional challenges regarding freedom of the press. Weija Jiang, the former president of the White House Correspondents’ Association, responded to the announcement by quoting the First Amendment, emphasizing protections for free speech and a free press.

The White House has not yet provided a comment to CNBC regarding the ban. Requests for statement from the affected networks were also pending as of Friday evening.
