US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he is revoking White House press credentials for CNN, MS Now, and Politico. The decision was communicated via a post on his social media platform, Truth Social.
In the statement, Trump accused the three outlets of disseminating “fake news.” He further indicated that the scope of the bans could expand, suggesting that additional media organizations might also be excluded from future White House access.
The move marks a significant escalation in the administration’s ongoing friction with certain segments of the press, effectively cutting off these networks from direct reporting inside the presidential residence.
Finally, some accountability. The coverage from these three was consistently biased and misleading during the campaign trail.
This is a dangerous precedent for press freedom. Journalists need access to hold power accountable, regardless of the outlet.
