Trump Vows to Bar CNN, MSNBC, and Politico from White House Correspondent Events

President Donald Trump declared his intention to exclude major news organizations CNN, MSNBC, and Politico from future White House events, signaling an escalation in his long-standing friction with the American press.

The announcement was made late Wednesday night on the president’s social media platform. In a post, Trump justified the move by claiming these outlets consistently produce biased content, characterizing the decision as a necessary step to ensure fairness within the White House press pool.

CNN responded on Thursday morning by expressing disappointment. A spokesperson stated that the network remains committed to holding the administration accountable and refused to align its coverage with the President’s desires, emphasizing the importance of serving the public interest.

In addition to CNN, both Politico and MSNBC have been stripped of their credentials for the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Under the new rules, any reporters from these outlets who attempt to enter the event will face arrest.

This development marks a significant breach of precedent, as it is uncommon for a sitting president to ban entire news networks from the White House. Historically, exclusions have targeted individual journalists, such as Politico reporter Alex Burns in 2018 and CNN correspondent Kaitlan Collins in 2023.

Political observers note that the dispute extends beyond these three outlets. Trump also barred reporters from The Atlantic, The New York Times, and The Washington Post from a recent trip to Poland last month, further highlighting the deteriorating relationship between the White House and the mainstream media.
