Trump Bans CNN, Politico and MS NOW From the White House

President Donald Trump declared on Friday that CNN, MS NOW, and Politico are barred from entering the White House, marking a new escalation in his administration’s ongoing conflicts with the press. The announcement was posted to his Truth Social platform.

“I am proud to announce that, effective immediately, I am banning Fake News CNN, MSNOW … and Politico … from the White House as a result of their constant ‘reporting’ FAKE NEWS!” Trump wrote. He further argued that media organizations should not be permitted to publish what he described as fiction and lies when covering the president, his administration, or the nation. He added that other outlets labeled as “Fake News Media” would likely face similar restrictions.

The directive is expected to trigger swift legal action. According to CBS News, requests for comment were sent to the White House, as well as to the representatives of Politico, MS NOW, and CNN.

This development mirrors a legal dispute from the previous year, when the administration attempted to prohibit the Associated Press from White House coverage. That conflict arose after the AP declined to adopt the administration’s preferred term, “Gulf of America,” for the Gulf of Mexico. The news organization subsequently filed a lawsuit alleging violations of First Amendment rights.

In April 2025, a federal judge ordered the restoration of the AP’s access to presidential areas. However, a federal appeals court later permitted the administration to maintain restrictions on access to smaller, restricted spaces within the White House complex. That legal battle remains active.
