Trump Administration Begins Border Wall Construction in Texas Big Bend

The Trump administration has initiated construction of a segment of the U.S.-Mexico border wall in southwest Texas’s Big Bend area, proceeding notwithstanding objections from regional officials.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confirmed to the Associated Press on Friday that the installation of 30-foot barriers is currently underway along this stretch of the southern border. The agency stated that ground-breaking activities began earlier this week.

The decision to proceed with the project in Big Bend marks a significant step in the administration’s broader border security efforts, even as it faces resistance from local leadership concerned about the environmental and economic impacts on the rural region.

3 responses to “Trump Administration Begins Border Wall Construction in Texas Big Bend”

  1. Does anyone know if local farmers were consulted before this started? Rural communities always get left out of these decisions.

  2. Finally, someone is taking border security seriously. Thirty-foot walls are long overdue and necessary for national safety.

  3. Big Bend is stunningly beautiful. How can they justify ruining that landscape with massive steel barriers? It feels completely out of place.
