Grassley Calls for Trump to Impose Diesel Export Embargo

Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley (R) has asked President Trump to implement an embargo on diesel exports as fuel costs remain elevated. In a post released on Saturday night, Grassley highlighted the economic pressure on consumers and farmers.

“[W]hy doesn’t Pres Trump put an embargo on diesel exports like presidents in the 70s put embargoes on ag[riculture] products [because] food prices were inflated,” Grassley said, referencing historical precedents from the 1970s when embargoes were placed on agricultural goods to combat rising food prices.

The request underscores growing legislative concern over the impact of energy export policies on domestic prices. Grassley’s appeal comes amid ongoing debates about balancing energy market dynamics with consumer affordability.
