Following the initial launch on its latest foldable devices, Samsung has begun distributing the One UI 9 update to the broader Galaxy S26 family. The rollout, which commenced on September 16, 2026, covers the Galaxy S26, S26+, S26 Ultra, and the recently released S26 FE.
This expansion allows users of traditional slab-style smartphones to access key innovations previously reserved for the Z Fold and Z Flip series. A notable addition is My FanCam, an AI-driven tool that automatically crops videos to track a single subject as they move within the frame. This feature is designed to simplify content creation at events like concerts, allowing users to capture wide shots that are then refined into focused, aspect-ratio-specific clips of their choice.
The update also brings a suite of enhanced AI capabilities to these devices. Now Brief has been upgraded with generative, editable cards that provide users with greater control over their daily summaries. Additionally, the Now Nudge feature leverages personal context across the Galaxy ecosystem to offer timely suggestions, such as easily inserting reservation details into text messages.
Communication tools have also seen improvements. The Interpreter app now features a Thread View to help users track translated conversations more effectively, while Conversation Mode translations are reportedly faster. The Voice Recorder app offers clearer summaries with structured headings and tables, and Document Scan has been refined to better capture curved pages and folded corners without extensive manual adjustment.
Samsung states that One UI 9 also introduces Security Brief, which provides malware alerts and flags other security concerns, as well as Privacy Alerts. Furthermore, the company is expanding its scam call detection system to include Japan and Canada, in addition to existing coverage in other regions.
Does the S26 FE get the full feature set or just the basics? Hoping for parity with the Ultra, especially for Now Brief enhancements.
Glad to see Security Brief and Privacy Alerts coming to the main S-line. Scam call detection expansion is a welcome safety upgrade too.
Is this just bloatware for foldable features that don’t translate well to flat screens? Hopefully the AI tools are actually useful and not gimmicky.
Finally, My FanCam on my S26! No need to carry a separate camera for concerts anymore. Excited to test it out this weekend.
