Anthropic Unifies Claude Interface, Merging Chat and Cowork

Anthropic announced on Wednesday that it is consolidating its Claude chat and Cowork interfaces into a single, unified window. The update aims to resolve user confusion regarding which tab to select for specific tasks by allowing seamless access to chat, Cowork, and Artifacts—the platform’s interactive workspace feature—within one front-end.

Previously, the company noted that customers often struggled to navigate between different tabs. Under the new design, Claude automatically routes requests to the appropriate section without requiring users to switch windows or tabs manually. Additionally, Claude Design, a tool introduced in April for website and prototype design, is now accessible throughout the entire interface.

Beyond the interface overhaul, Anthropic is introducing dedicated features for creating presentations and documents. Users can now instruct the AI assistant to generate, edit, and present slides, with options to download the final output as a PDF or PowerPoint file. The updated Docs feature enables collaborative work, allowing users to create sections, ask questions, and comment on completed content. These documents and slides can be shared via links and edited on mobile devices, with progress syncable between desktop and phone.

The rollout begins with Pro and Max subscribers on web, desktop, and mobile platforms over the coming weeks. Anthropic plans to extend these capabilities to free and team tiers at a later date. This update follows a recent enhancement to Cowork’s memory layer, which allows Claude to retain user context across separate conversations.
