Police Fail to Investigate Image-Based Abuse Cases, Triggering Super-Complaint

Police forces across the country are regularly neglecting to investigate complaints regarding the distribution of intimate images without consent, according to new findings that have prompted a formal super-complaint into the handling of such offenses.

The legal team behind the complaint compiled testimonies and evidence from 100 individuals who reported having their personal images shared online without permission. The data indicates that image-based abuse continues to be frequently dismissed or overlooked as a criminal act.

This systemic failure persists despite former Prime Minister Keir Starmer having previously characterized the issue as a national emergency, highlighting a significant gap between political rhetoric and operational practice in law enforcement agencies.
