At Least 11 Killed in Ukraine on Putin’s Birthday; Bulgaria Suspends Ship Rescue

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed a series of strikes on Russian territory on what would have been Vladimir Putin’s birthday, describing the assaults as a response to Moscow’s aggression. The attacks targeted several key locations, including Pryluky, Dnipro, Kremenchuk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kyiv.

Zelenskyy characterized the operations as necessary measures against the ongoing war, though he did not provide specific casualty figures for the Ukrainian side in the initial report. The strikes come amid escalating tensions as both nations continue to exchange blows across the front lines and deeper into each other’s territory.

In a separate incident reported by Reuters, Bulgaria has suspended its search efforts for the missing crew members of a vessel that sank after being struck by a drone earlier in the week. The attack occurred on Tuesday within Bulgaria’s exclusive economic zone in the Black Sea.

According to reports, two ships were hit during the drone strike. While the crew of the damaged vessel was successfully rescued, those aboard the sunken ship remain unaccounted for. Rescue teams have located a boat, three life rafts, and fragments of the sunken vessel’s equipment, but no survivors have been found among the missing crew.

  1. A drone sinking a ship in Bulgaria’s zone changes everything. This conflict is spilling over borders faster than expected.

  2. I’m skeptical about the official casualty figures. Both sides seem to withhold details during active conflicts for obvious reasons.

  3. As a Bulgarian, the suspension of the search feels like a quiet tragedy we are forced to accept. Hope my prayers help.

  4. The timing of these strikes on Putin’s birthday feels symbolic, not just strategic. A bold move by Kyiv.
