Nintendo Unveils Limited-Edition Switch 2 for The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary

Nintendo has officially revealed a special edition of the Switch 2 dedicated to the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda franchise. The new console, featuring a metallic green and gold color scheme, is scheduled for release on October 29, one week prior to the launch of the highly anticipated Ocarina of Time remake.

Unlike the all-gold Echoes of Wisdom Switch Lite released in 2024, this new iteration opts for a dual-tone design. The Joy-Con controllers are finished in a reflective metallic green and gold that is designed to catch the light. Unique details include a sprite of Link holding the Triforce on the front of the left controller and a sprite of Zelda on the back of the right controller. The docking station complements the theme with a black and gold finish centered around a large Triforce emblem.

While the console highlights the franchise’s legacy, it does not include a copy of the Ocarina of Time remake. That title remains a separate purchase and is set to arrive on November 5. Nintendo also plans to release coordinating accessories, including a carrying case with a screen protector, a Pro controller, and a stand, all arriving on the same date as the console. These items will be available while supplies last, suggesting strong demand for the limited-run merchandise.
