Vietnam Veterans Seek Emergency Block on Trump Arch Construction

Vietnam War veterans are moving to prevent the start of construction for President Trump’s proposed triumphal arch in the Washington, D.C. area. The group is requesting an emergency court order to stop the administration from proceeding with its planned groundbreaking.

The legal challenge was filed by veterans Michael Lemmon, Shaun Byrnes, and Jon Gundersen, alongside architectural historian Calder Loth. Their request for a temporary restraining order aims to block the project before site work begins.

  1. I didn’t know there was a proposed arch. Why here? It feels like a massive ego project for the wrong reasons.

  2. The veterans are the right ones to challenge this. Their service speaks louder than any monument could ever hope to.

  3. Groundbreaking soon? That timeline seems incredibly rushed. Shouldn’t there be proper historical review first?
