Gallup: Democrat Identification Surges as Voters Distance Themselves from GOP

A recent quarterly report from Gallup indicates a significant shift in American political affiliation, with more voters aligning themselves with the Democratic Party while distancing from the Republican label. The data shows that 49% of surveyed voters now lean Democrat, a figure that includes independents who selected a party when pressed. In contrast, only 39% of respondents identified as leaning Republican.

This disparity represents a sharp reversal from the political landscape observed in 2024. The findings highlight a growing trend of voter realignment, suggesting that the Republican Party is facing increasing challenges in retaining identity among the electorate as Democratic affiliation rises.
