The murder trial of Lindsay Clancy resumed Friday in Massachusetts with jurors entering their seventh day of deliberations following a significant legal dispute over a single holdout. The jury is currently split 11-to-1 after 35 hours of discussion, a development that has intensified scrutiny on whether a verdict is imminent or if a mistrial is necessary.
Clancy’s attorney, Kevin Reddington, argues that the dissenting juror is willfully disregarding Judge William Sullivan’s instructions regarding reasonable doubt. Reddington requested that the juror be dismissed and replaced by one of six alternates, aiming to restart deliberations. However, Sullivan denied the motion both Thursday and Friday morning, stating, “I’m not going to do a further inquiry of this juror. It’s their duty to accept the law as I’ve given it to them.”
