Following the success of LEGO’s previous Nintendo and Sega Genesis console models, the long-rumored brick-built PlayStation has finally been confirmed. During today’s State of Play livestream, LEGO revealed a 1,911-piece set designed to replicate the original 1995 console at nearly a 1:1 scale.
Once assembled, the model measures 10.5 inches in width and includes a detailed replica of the console and its controller. The set features functional mechanical buttons, though they are non-operational. Hidden within the design are miniature dioramas from two iconic PlayStation titles: Ape Escape and Gran Turismo.
The Ape Escape section depicts an island scene with the face of the main character, accompanied by a helmet light that can be set to either red or blue. The Gran Turismo diorama features a small race track with tiny vehicles. While this marks the first time LEGO has recreated PlayStation hardware, the two companies have collaborated before; a Horizon Forbidden West set launched in 2022, followed by a video game adaptation and a smaller-scale set.
The LEGO PlayStation set is scheduled for release on October 1 and will be priced at $180.
