Epic Games is restructuring its development process for an undisclosed Disney video game by heavily integrating artificial intelligence, a move that coincides with the project’s delay beyond its initial March launch window. According to a report from Bloomberg, the studio has issued an “AI-first” directive, urging developers to rely on tools such as Anthropic’s Claude to complete the title.
Internal communications reportedly emphasized the shift away from traditional programming methods. One of the game’s directors informed staff in a message stating, “No more hand-written code,” while also confirming that all visual assets for the project would be produced through fully AI-driven workflows.
In response to the report, Epic Games spokesperson Jake Jones confirmed the company’s new direction, stating that the studio is “embracing AI-accelerated develop[ment].” The reliance on generative AI marks a significant change in production strategy for the high-profile collaboration.
