At the forefront of durable mobile technology, RugOne has introduced the Xsnap 7 Pro, a rugged smartphone distinguished by its ability to transform one of its rear cameras into an independent action cam. While devices like the DJI Osmo Nano and Insta360 Go Ultra offer similar detachable camera experiences, the Xsnap 7 Pro differentiates itself with its robust build quality and high-impact resilience.
The device boasts IP68 and IP69K ratings, ensuring it can withstand intense water blasts and full submersion for up to 30 minutes. This makes it suitable for extreme outdoor adventures where standard smartphones would fail.
The Xsnap 7 Pro initially debuted at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 earlier this year. RugOne announced that the phone will launch through a Kickstarter campaign on September 7th, with limited units available at a price of €799 (approximately $930). A global release is scheduled for October, with a retail price of $999.
Although the detachable camera module may not match the capabilities of dedicated action cams like the DJI Osmo Nano or Insta360 Go Ultra, it provides users with a versatile dual-purpose device that combines the convenience of a smartphone with the portability of an action camera.
