Zelda Williams has issued a public appeal asking the internet to cease the distribution of artificial intelligence videos depicting her late father, Robin Williams. The director of “Lisa Frankenstein” took to the social media platform X on Monday to address a recently circulated clip described as a “private video” of the actor discussing conspiracies, clarifying that the content is clearly synthetic.
In her statement, Williams expressed frustration not only with the technology but with those who propagate it. She criticized the audio quality of the generated footage, noting that anyone who believes the robotic voice is authentic likely watches movies without sound. “A human made a robot create it, and to you I say: leave him out of your delusional bullshit and let him rest,” she wrote. She further challenged the motives behind such creations, asking, “If you cannot make your case without making a dead man make it more convincing for you, then tell me: who’s the one manipulating the public thru media now?”
Williams acknowledged her discomfort with the social media environment, describing it as a “cesspool” filled with bots and individuals easily deceived by them. However, she stated she returned to the platform because of her love for her father. “Just because he’s gone does not mean he’s now your puppet. Have some shame,” she added.
The iconic comedian, known for roles in films such as “Jumanji,” “Good Will Hunting,” and “Mrs. Doubtfire,” passed away in 2014 at the age of 63. In recent years, his image has become a frequent target for AI recreation tools. This is not the first time Williams has spoken out against the misuse of her father’s likeness. In October 2025, she posted on Instagram pleading with fans to stop sending her AI-generated content, stating, “It’s dumb, it’s a waste of time and energy, and believe me, it’s NOT what he’d want.”
Last month, Williams joined her siblings, Zak and Cody Williams, in reviving Robin Williams’ official Instagram account. Their stated goal was to combat the widespread abuse of his voice and image on the platform.
