Xbox has stepped in to publish the forthcoming title Physint from acclaimed Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima, following Sony’s decision to cancel its involvement. The surprising transition was accompanied by a rapid series of statements from PlayStation, Xbox, Kojima Productions, and Kojima himself.
Sony, which previously served as the publisher for both Death Stranding titles, described the move as a “difficult decision to step away from collaborating with Kojima Productions,” while emphasizing that their professional ties remain intact.
Kojima offered a starkly different perspective on his personal X account, alleging that Sony issued an unexpected cancellation notice to the studio in June. He noted that the team has spent the subsequent months dealing with the fallout.
