US Coast Guard Seeks Six People After Air Ambulance Goes Missing Off Massachusetts

The US Coast Guard located wreckage of a medical transport aircraft off the coast of Nantucket Island on Saturday and initiated a search for the six individuals aboard, officials confirmed.

The Gulfstream G-100 jet was conducting a medical evacuation from Bermuda to Boston when it ceased communication with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) early Saturday morning. The FAA issued a search-and-rescue alert at approximately 1:20 am local time, according to an agency spokesperson.

Rescue operations are ongoing as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the loss of contact and locate the missing passengers and crew.

  1. What caused the sudden loss of contact? Technical failure or weather? I’m waiting for more details before assuming anything.

  2. I can’t believe it went down so close to land. That’s terrifying for anyone flying commercial or medevac.

  3. Is the G-100 considered safe for these long trans-oceanic medical flights? Seems like a risky aircraft choice.
