Former U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that an ‘energy ceasefire’ has been agreed upon between Russia and Ukraine.
The declaration was made via Truth Social, where Trump stated, ‘Russia & Ukraine have agreed to an Energy Cease Fire.’ He added that the agreement came after a phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Trump emphasized that the new arrangement would safeguard energy assets across both nations, describing it as a ‘very BIG win for everyone!’
This announcement follows a period of heightened tensions in the region, with recent reports indicating continued military activity. Just yesterday, the Russian army launched strikes on Sloviansk and Kyiv, while Ukrainian drones targeted a third Yandex data centre.
The claim of an energy truce represents a significant development in the ongoing conflict, though details regarding the specific terms and implementation of the ceasefire remain unclear.
