A recent study published by Science Daily suggests that coffee consumption may significantly influence mood and brain function through changes in gut microbial activity. The research found that both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee were associated with reductions in stress, depression, and impulsivity, alongside measurable shifts in gut bacteria and metabolites.
While both types of coffee contributed to better mental well-being, they offered distinct cognitive advantages. Decaffeinated coffee was linked to enhanced learning and memory capabilities, whereas caffeinated coffee appeared to lower anxiety levels and improve attention spans.
