Stars Shine on Blue Carpet at 78th Emmy Awards in Los Angeles

Los Angeles played host to the biggest night in American television as the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards took place at the Peacock Theater. The ceremony celebrated the most prominent television programs of the past year, with the event traditionally marking the transition from the Creative Arts Emmys.

Instead of the customary red carpet, attendees walked a blue version of the famous pathway. Major stars turned out in force, with Zendaya leading the charge while being considered for her third Emmy for best actress in a drama series for her role in ‘Euphoria.’ She arrived wearing a floor-length, jeweled Prada gown.

Other notable figures included Colman Domingo, who was nominated for his work in the comedy series ‘The Four Seasons,’ and Selena Gomez, who attended as both a star and producer for ‘Only Murders In The Building.’ Rhea Seehorn made headlines after winning best leading drama actress for ‘Pluribus,’ while Ayo Edebiri arrived ahead of her lead actress in a comedy nomination for ‘The Bear.’

The evening also saw several wins and recognitions beyond the red carpet arrivals. Matthew Rhys took home two acting trophies for his roles in ‘The Beast In Me’ and ‘Widow’s Bay.’ Michael J. Fox and his wife Tracy Pollan were honored with the TV Academy’s Bob Hope Humanitarian Award. Allison Janney secured her eighth career Emmy for best supporting actress in a drama for ‘The Diplomat,’ and Noah Wyle won best drama actor for the medical series ‘The Pitt,’ which also saw eight of its cast members receive individual acting nominations.

Guests and presenters such as Martin Short, Steve Martin, Emmy Rossum, and host Mariska Hargitay joined the festivities. International talent was also well-represented, with Scottish actors Richard Gadd and Alan Cumming in attendance, and British actress Carey Mulligan nominated for the second season of ‘Beef.’
