Apple TV emerged as the dominant force at this year’s Emmy Awards, securing 28 trophies and topping the platform race. The streaming service’s success was primarily driven by the comedy series Widow’s Bay, which took home a sweep of 14 awards, making it the most-decorated show of the evening.
Before the Primetime Emmy ceremony began on Monday, Widow’s Bay had already accumulated eight wins during the previous week’s Creative Arts Emmys, including honors for guest comedy actress Betty Gilpin, casting, and music supervision. During the main broadcast, the show added six more prestigious categories: outstanding comedy series, lead comedy actor for Matthew Rhys, supporting comedy actor for Stephen Root, supporting comedy actress for Kate O’Flynn, writing, and directing.
Beyond its headline-grabbing comedy, Apple TV earned six additional Emmys for the anthology series Pluribus, three for Margo’s Got Money Troubles, three for Palm Royale, one for Slow Horses, and one for Mr. Scorsese.
HBO Max finished in second place among platforms with a total of 21 awards. It secured top honors for two flagship series: DTF St. Louis won outstanding limited series with seven awards, while The Pitt claimed outstanding drama series, also with seven wins. These two productions tied with Peacock’s The Traitors and NBC’s The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny for the second-most wins by any individual show.
Pluribus tied with The Late Show With Stephen Colbert for the third-most wins by a single program. Following them were Spider-Noir with five awards, The Muppet Show with four, and Beef with three. Notably, the latter three series earned all their recognition during the Creative Arts ceremony rather than the Primetime event.
Netflix placed third overall with 16 Emmys distributed across a variety of titles, including Beef, Love on the Spectrum, Bridgerton, and The Beast in Me.
