Sony Certifies Two New PlayStation Handhelds, Fueling OLED Portal Rumors

Sony may be preparing to unveil an updated version of its PlayStation Portal remote player. Recent certifications filed with the Wi-Fi Alliance have uncovered two unannounced PlayStation products, with documentation suggesting they are significant upgrades to the existing handheld streaming device.

The certified devices, categorized as “Gaming Console/Peripherals,” carry model numbers CFI-Y2000 and CFI-Y2105. These identifiers represent a clear progression from the current PlayStation Portal’s model number, CFI-Y1001. According to the certification papers, the new units operate on Android 15, a detail that has intensified speculation regarding their capabilities.

Industry rumors earlier this year pointed toward a potential OLED display upgrade for the portal. The recent technical filings have added weight to these claims, indicating that Sony is developing new hardware that could address previous limitations of the original release.
