Singapore Grand Prix Sprint and Qualifying: Championship Leader Antonelli Tops Standings

The Singapore Formula One Grand Prix is set to feature both a sprint race and qualifying session, with updates scheduled to begin at 10am BST and qualifying following at 2pm BST. The event highlights the current state of the drivers’ championship, where Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli holds a commanding lead.

Ahead of the race, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff addressed his detractors, advising critics to “watch Teletubbies not F1.” This remark comes amidst intense competition and scrutiny surrounding the teams and drivers as they head into the Singapore weekend.

Antonelli currently sits at the top of the championship table with 320 points, leveraging a significant advantage over his rivals. His Mercedes teammate, George Russell, occupies second place with 236 points, while Lewis Hamilton has moved into third after driving for Ferrari with 214 points.

Further down the standings, Charles Leclerc follows in fourth with 191 points for Ferrari. In a tightly contested fifth and sixth place, Lando Norris of McLaren and Max Verstappen of Red Bull are locked on 188 points each. Oscar Piastri, also driving for McLaren, is in eighth position with 96 points, while Isack Hadjar completes the top ten for Red Bull.

The mid-field battle features Liam Lawson in ninth for Racing Bulls with 65 points, followed by Pierre Gasly in eleventh for Alpine with 41 points. Arvid Lindblad of Racing Bulls sits in twelfth with 38 points, and Franco Colapinto is next for Alpine with 27 points. Oliver Bearman represents Haas in fourteenth, while Gabriel Bortoleto leads the Audi drivers in fifteenth. Nico Hülkenberg, Esteban Ocon, Fernando Alonso, and Carlos Sainz are clustered near the bottom of the top twenty with single-digit point totals, with Alexander Albon and Yuki Tsunoda completing the list.

  1. Singapore sprint race should be exciting. Antonelli has a massive lead, but these circuits are unpredictable for overtaking.

  2. I was surprised to see Isack Hadjar in the top ten. He seems like a quiet point scorer for Red Bull this year.

  3. Wait, did Norris and Verstappen really have the exact same points? That is such a bizarre tie in fifth and sixth.

  4. Toto Wolff’s jabs at critics are getting a bit repetitive. Can the team just let the cars do the talking please?

  5. I can’t believe Hamilton is third already. That Ferrari pace is looking genuinely impressive this season.
