The film captures Holmes and her husband Billy Evans during the final 34 days before she reported to federal prison in May 2023 to begin serving her 11-year sentence for defrauding investors of her blood-testing technology. The documentary also features an A-list actress who becomes part of the narrative itself.
Holmes’ legal battles have largely proven unsuccessful. Her appeals to overturn her conviction and reduce her sentence were denied last February. She subsequently sought clemency from President Trump, and that petition remains listed as pending on the Justice Department’s website, indicating it is still under review.
A24 is scheduled to release the documentary in theaters this October. The festival screening marks a significant moment for the project, generating substantial buzz before its wider release.
