British rock band Radiohead has confirmed dates for a major tour spanning Australia and Japan, marking the group’s first visit to Australia in 15 years. The itinerary, unveiled Monday, features 16 concerts across Perth, Melbourne, and Sydney, alongside five shows in Saitama, Japan.
The Australian leg kicks off on May 3 at Perth’s RAC Arena with four performances. The band will then play six shows at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena before concluding with additional dates at Sydney’s Afterpay Arena.
This will be Radiohead’s first full Australian tour since promoting their 2011 album The King of Limbs. Frontman Thom Yorke did perform solo shows in the country in 2024, during one Melbourne concert where he briefly walked off stage after being heckled by a pro-Palestine protester, later returning to perform the band’s 1997 hit Karma Police.
In Japan, the band returns for the first time in 19 years, with five concerts scheduled at the GMO Arena Saitama.
Although Radiohead has not released a studio album since 2016’s A Moon Shaped Pool, demand remains strong. Tickets were met with a frenzied rush upon announcement.
Co-promoter Frontier Touring launched an online portal Monday evening for fans to register interest for Australian shows. The system will use a ballot process to help ensure fair access and reduce unauthorized purchases.
Registration is capped at four tickets per city, and the portal notes there is no advantage to registering early. All completed registrations received by the Thursday 5pm AEST deadline will be treated equally.
Successful registrants will receive an email with next steps starting Friday, with the opportunity to purchase tickets the following week.
Radiohead first toured Australia in 1994 following the release of their debut album Pablo Honey, which included their breakthrough single Creep. Last year, the band reunited for a series of shows in European cities after a seven-year hiatus.
