Prime Video appears to have secured another successful franchise with the launch of Neagley, a spinoff set within the same universe as Reacher, which has recently premiered its fourth season. Both series deliver highly engaging entertainment, and despite some narrative irregularities in the new show, it largely adheres to the winning formula while carving out a distinct path for its protagonist.
Viewers of Reacher already know Frances Neagley, portrayed effectively by Maria Sten. She is recognized as one of Jack Reacher’s most loyal allies, consistently assisting the former military police officer and drifter, played by Alan Ritchson, as he battles various criminals throughout the show’s four seasons.
The premiere episode features an appearance by Ritchson’s character, who utilizes his physical prowess to help rescue a kidnapped child, setting the stage for Neagley’s standalone journey.
Love seeing Neagley take the lead. Her backstory with the military police was really compelling.
Does it feel too much like Reacher with a different protagonist? Still watching, but it’s familiar territory.
I was skeptical about another Reacher show, but Neagley actually stands on its own. Great character study.
Is Reacher’s cameo in the premiere worth the wait? I’m just hoping for more action like season four.
Finally, a spinoff that respects the source material. Maria Sten is perfect here.
