Team USA holds a slender 3-2 advantage over the International Team as they prepare for Friday’s foursomes session at Medinah, where the visitors aim to disrupt the hosts’ dominance in the Presidents Cup.
The United States has led after the opening day of nine of the last 10 tournaments and has won all nine of those events. The International Team secured two points on Thursday, marking their best start since 2019, but still trail after the fourballs matches.
Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns will lead out Team USA again, having secured their first victory as partners by edging past Min Woo Lee and Sungjae Im on the final hole yesterday. This win keeps Scheffler’s record in fourballs unbeaten. Meanwhile, Adam Scott broke the all-time record for the most Presidents Cup matches played during the competition.
International Team captain Geoff Ogilvy has made significant changes to his lineup for day two. Rookies Ryo Hisatsune and Nico Echavarria, who had combined with Hideki Matsuyama for a win earlier, have been dropped despite their recent success. Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Nick Taylor return to represent the side.
For Team USA, debutants Chris Gotterup and Jackson Koivun are benched in favor of returning players Jacob Bridgeman and Russell Henley.
Friday’s matchups (UK/Ireland time):
- 19:05 – Scottie Scheffler/Sam Burns vs Corey Conners/Nick Taylor
- 19:19 – Russell Henley/Jacob Bridgeman vs Sungjae Im/Hideki Matsuyama
- 19:33 – Collin Morikawa/Wyndham Clark vs Ryan Fox/Min Woo Lee

Just here for the golf drama. USA looks strong, but never count out the International Team at home events.
USA has won nine of the last ten after Day 1. Can the Internationals really break that streak at Medinah?
Adam Scott breaking the all-time participation record is quite an achievement in itself. Respect to his longevity.
Dropping the rookie duo after a win? Bold move by Ogilvy. I wonder if it will pay off or backfire badly?
Scottie finally winning a foursomes match is huge. Hopefully he keeps this momentum going into Saturday.
