Premier League clubs honour toddler Noah Woods in emotional tribute

Supporters and athletes from Everton and Ipswich Town joined together in a poignant memorial ahead of their Premier League fixture, honoring the memory of three-year-old Noah Woods.

The tribute included a large-screen display featuring a photograph of the toddler alongside the message “In loving memory of Noah Woods,” while players from both teams wore black armbands during the match, which Ipswich won 1-0.

Noah, who is non-verbal, partially deaf, and undergoing assessments for autism, disappeared on Tuesday afternoon after becoming separated from a relative at a playground in Brantham, Suffolk. His disappearance triggered a massive search operation involving approximately 1,300 members of the public. On Wednesday, Met Police divers recovered his body from a local body of water known as Decoy Pond. Authorities have confirmed that his death is not being treated as suspicious.

In the third minute of the match, both sets of supporters rose to applaud in a moment of silence for the child. Everton captain Dara O’Shea and goalkeeper Christian Walton were among the club representatives who laid flowers at the scene where Noah went missing.

Ipswich Town defender Leif Davis contributed £2,000 to a fundraising appeal established for the family. Davis revealed that he participated in the search efforts immediately following Ipswich’s match against Arsenal on Tuesday, remaining involved until 03:00 BST the next morning. He described the tragedy as deeply personal given his recent experience of becoming a father.

“Even if I wasn’t a new father, I would have been out there… It’s something that I would want someone else to do if it was my little girl or boy,” Davis told the BBC. “It was a sad thing, it really hit us, and I hope his family and everyone close to him are strong and stay safe as well.”
