Nvidia Raises Shield TV Pro Price by $100 Amid Chip Shortage

Nvidia Raises Shield TV Pro Price by $100 Amid Chip Shortage

The global memory shortage has once again impacted consumer electronics, with Nvidia announcing a significant price increase for its flagship streaming device. The Shield TV Pro, which originally launched nearly seven years ago featuring an upgraded Tegra X1+ processor, 3GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage, was priced at $199.99. However, effective October 2, the price has risen by $100 to $299.99.

According to reports from Ars Technica, the price hike is a direct result of increased component costs driven by the ongoing supply chain constraints. This follows a pattern seen across various tech sectors, including digital cameras and game consoles, where soaring material prices have forced manufacturers to adjust retail rates. When the Pro model was first introduced in 2019, Nvidia also revealed an entry-level variant equipped with the same processor but reduced to 2GB of RAM and 8GB of storage.

  1. Two hundred ninety-nine dollars for a seven-year-old streaming box? That is absolutely outrageous pricing.
