Cheapest and Most Expensive US Flights for November Revealed

Domestic airfares for November travel have climbed significantly this year, with holiday trips rising more than 23% compared to the same period last year, according to CNBC. Airlines are increasingly passing higher jet fuel expenses along to consumers, a trend that is especially pronounced during the Thanksgiving season where fares have surged by over 30%.

Data from flight-tracking platform Hopper, which analyzed “good deal” fares for November while excluding the peak Thanksgiving travel window, identified several routes offering notable savings. The most affordable flights connect Atlanta, the world’s busiest airport, to various destinations across the Midwest and Southeast. Short-haul options within Hawaii and Florida also provide budget-friendly opportunities for travelers.

However, flight distance is not always a reliable indicator of price. Conversely, certain routes command premium fares. Travel from remote locations in Alaska to the East Coast ranks among the most expensive, largely because the state imports significant quantities of jet fuel and refined products despite being an oil-producing region. Additionally, flights departing from Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts heading to New York and Washington, D.C., are priced at the higher end of the spectrum.

The findings highlight the uneven landscape of air travel pricing this fall, where savvy planning can yield bargains on specific corridors even as overall costs remain elevated due to fuel surcharges and carrier strategies.

  2. Is it really that hard to find a cheap flight to anywhere? My searches are all showing sky-high prices right now.

  3. Alaska flights are insane. I always wonder why remote areas cost triple. Makes sense now about the fuel imports.

  4. I had no idea fuel costs are driving prices up so much. Good to know避开 Thanksgiving for savings.
