Decades of speculation regarding Nathan Fielder’s covert interviews with Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes, including visits to her imprisonment, were resolved on Sunday night with the premiere of “You Can See Everything” at the Telluride Film Festival.
A24 described the film as a three-year odyssey into the life of the Silicon Valley figure. The synopsis notes that 34 days before her incarceration, Holmes permitted a skeptical production team to record her daily existence, resulting in what the studio characterizes as a mind-bending exploration.
The project marks a collaboration between Fielder, known for “Nathan For You” and “The Rehearsal,” and Lance Oppenheim, the director behind “Some Kind of Heaven” and the Robert Pattinson-led “Primetime,” which recently received critical acclaim at the Venice Film Festival.
To coincide with the secret screening in Colorado, A24 released a teaser trailer featuring an intense exchange between the two. In the clip, Holmes asserts, “I don’t have anything to deceive you on… I’m engaging with you as a human being.” When Fielder questions if she is being genuine, she responds, “I’m always being real.”
Fielder replies, “OK. Alright. OK, good chat,” before asking for clarification on her honesty. The documentary is scheduled for a theatrical release in October.
Is this actually a documentary, or just another elaborate Nathan Fielder prank? The line seems blurry.
