MS NOW Reporters Blocked from White House Following Trump’s Media Ban

Reporters from MS NOW were refused entry to the White House grounds early Saturday, a direct consequence of President Donald Trump’s announcement the previous day banning three major media organizations.

The executive order targets MS NOW, CNN, and Politico. President Trump justified the restriction by citing what he described as inaccurate reporting from the outlets regarding his administration. He stated on Truth Social that the groups “shouldn’t be able to constantly write or report FICTION and LIES when they’re covering the President of the United States, the Trump Administration, or the United States of America,” adding that other “Fake News Media Outlets” might face similar restrictions.

In an Oval Office briefing later on Friday, Trump explained the decision was a response to what he termed “cumulative stories” from the three publications. “You get sick of it,” the president said.

MS NOW released a statement confirming that its journalists were denied access. The outlet declared its intention to pursue all necessary legal avenues to protect First Amendment rights, emphasizing that the White House serves the American public and operates on taxpayer funds. The network also pledged to maintain its coverage of the president and the issues affecting citizens.

This move follows a history of tensions between Trump’s White House and the press. In 2018, the administration briefly attempted to suspend a CNN reporter’s press credentials. Currently, the White House is defending a lawsuit filed by the Associated Press regarding a prior attempt to bar its journalists from specific areas, including the Oval Office and Air Force One.

Despite potential legal challenges, Trump expressed on Friday that the effort was valuable regardless of the outcome in court. “I think it’s good to point it out whether it survives or doesn’t,” he said.
