Emergency services responded to reports of a collision involving a motorcycle near Trawalla, located west of Ballarat, shortly before 1pm on Sunday. The rider, identified as 71-year-old Peter ‘Tiki’ Mason, the president of a local motorcycle club, was traveling on the Western Highway when he reportedly lost control after hitting the road defect near Trawalla Road.
Mason died at the scene. His death has prompted calls for improved maintenance and safety measures, highlighting the ongoing concerns among commuters and road users regarding the state’s crumbling road network.
