Man Arrested for Murder After Two Bodies Found in Blackburn Home

Lancashire Police have arrested a man on suspicion of murder following the discovery of two deceased individuals at a residence in Blackburn.

The force confirmed that the bodies of a man and a woman were discovered at the home on Hardman Street shortly before 08:20 BST on Sunday. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives have detained a man aged in his 40s. The identities of the deceased have not yet been released, and authorities stated they could not formally confirm their ages, though local residents indicated to the BBC that the pair were elderly.

A dedicated investigation team is currently conducting forensic examinations, reviewing CCTV footage, and carrying out house-to-house inquiries. A police forensic tent remained in place on the pavement on Monday as the crime scene was preserved for ongoing work.

Speaking about the investigation, a police spokesman described the inquiry as “fast-moving” but noted that it is still in its early stages. “We are currently establishing exactly what has occurred and why,” he said. “Detectives are continuing to work to establish a motive.”
