As Google prepares for the official launch of its Googlebook platform later this year, new details regarding one of the debut devices have emerged. According to a report from MacObserver, the Lenovo Googlebook 15 is set to include high-end specifications that surpass typical Chromebook standards.
The laptop is rumored to feature a 15.3-inch OLED touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2,880 by 1,800 pixels. It is also expected to deliver up to 500 nits of peak brightness. Under the hood, the device will reportedly run on an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor, paired with either 16GB or 32GB of LPDDR5x RAM and storage options of 256GB or 512GB.
Lenovo is developing several products for the Googlebook ecosystem, including a tablet with a detachable keyboard and trackpad, but the Googlebook 15 represents the traditional clamshell form factor. These specifications represent a significant upgrade over Google’s Chromebook Plus program, which mandated a baseline of 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, and Intel Core or AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors.
The increased processing power appears designed to support Gemini Intelligence features, such as Magic Cursor, which transforms the mouse pointer into a contextual prompt tool. Additionally, the device includes Google’s signature “glowbar,” a multicolored LED strip indicating system status.
While pricing has not been confirmed, the component list suggests a higher price point than standard Chromebooks. Google is scheduled to host a media event in New York City on September 15 to officially preview the first wave of Googlebooks.
