An Israeli drone strike killed a 42-year-old Palestinian man and wounded several others in southern Gaza on Thursday, while Israeli settlers shot dead another man during an attack on a village north of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.
The body of Tamer al-Hamayda and three injured individuals were transported to Nasser Medical Complex after the strike hit a tent sheltering displaced Palestinians in the al-Mawasi area, west of Khan Younis.
Medical staff at the same hospital reported that a second man had died from injuries sustained during an earlier drone strike on Tuesday, which targeted a gathering in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza.
In a separate development, Israeli forces conducted large-scale demolition operations on buildings east of Gaza City’s al-Tuffah neighborhood. The Gaza Health Ministry stated that eight new deaths and 26 injuries were recorded over the previous 24 hours. Since the ceasefire began in October 2025, the death toll in Gaza has reached 1,439, with 5,052 wounded and 834 bodies recovered from rubble. Overall, the ministry reports that at least 74,040 Palestinians have been killed and 175,168 wounded since the war began in October 2023.
Meanwhile, in the occupied West Bank, 51-year-old Mashhour Yassin was killed by settler gunfire during a raid on the village of Yasuf. The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed the death, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs accused Israeli forces of detaining an ambulance and seizing its keys, alleging coordination between the military and the attackers.
The foreign ministry described the incident as part of a continuous escalation in organized settler violence, which it argued serves Israeli plans for settlement expansion, annexation, and ethnic cleansing. Mayor Jumaa Abdel Fattah told AFP that dozens of armed settlers from the illegal Havat Anton settlement attacked the village, which is surrounded by four Israeli settlements. He stated that Yassin was shot while defending his home, and his nephew was also injured.
Palestinians in the West Bank have reported a surge in settler pogroms recently. More than 500,000 Israelis reside in settlements deemed illegal under international law. According to the United Nations, at least 1,112 Palestinians have been killed in the occupied West Bank since October 2023, including 37 killed by settlers.
This pattern of settler violence and military inaction speaks volumes about the lack of accountability on the ground.
1,439 dead since October 2025—what has diplomacy actually achieved if this continues unabated?
Are drone strikes on tent shelters really targeting combatants? The collateral damage seems catastrophic for civilians.
Another death in the West Bank is heartbreaking. The coordination allegations with ambulance denial are especially troubling.
The casualty figures are staggering. It feels like the violence is escalating rather than resolving, despite the ceasefire.
