Israel’s military issued its third evacuation order since June, warning residents in southern Lebanon to move at least 300 meters away from a building in Deir al-Zahrani. The directive, posted by military spokesperson Ella Waweya, cited planned strikes on a nearby Hezbollah facility and described the situation as a “blatant violation” of the ceasefire agreement after an explosive drone was launched toward Israeli forces.
The escalation follows lethal strikes on Sunday across southern Lebanon, which killed at least seven people, including two women, and wounded six others, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry. Israel stated the attacks were retaliatory responses to Hezbollah drone fire.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the strikes as a “dangerous escalation” targeting civilian infrastructure and health centers. His office urged Washington and the international community to intervene and halt the hostilities.
The conflict, which intensified in March when Iran-backed Hezbollah formally joined the war, has resulted in over 4,300 deaths and more than 12,000 injuries in Lebanon since March 2. Despite a U.S.-brokered truce agreed upon in June, violence has persisted with near-daily exchanges of fire.
