A new study has accused online bookmakers and casinos of widespread non-compliance with information privacy requirements, including the “data surveillance” of customers.
Research indicates that nearly nine in ten (86%) licensed British gambling websites appear to be flouting the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The regulation sets strict rules governing how organizations can collect, store, and process personal data.
According to the findings, most gambling sites nudge users toward accepting tracking cookies and harvest data before proper consent is given.
