Two high-ranking members of the hard-right Reform UK party resigned on Friday following the release of an undercover video investigation. The footage appeared to show the officials actively soliciting significant foreign funding to pay for party-commissioned opinion polls.
The inquiry also surfaced a potential donation of £500,000 from a United States donor, which would constitute a violation of UK election law prohibiting such foreign contributions.
This is deeply worrying. Foreign interference in our elections must be taken seriously.
Is £500,000 really the limit? I wonder what else might be uncovered in this probe.
Resignations are a start, but shouldn’t there be criminal charges for breaching election law?
