Three individuals lost their lives and fifteen others were wounded during overnight Israeli military strikes in Lebanon, according to the Lebanese health ministry.
A blast in the town of Ramadiyah, located in the southern Tyre district, resulted in one death and 15 injuries. Additionally, two more fatalities were reported in the Nabatieh region. In total, the ministry stated that strikes affected five distinct locations spanning Nabatieh, Tyre, and the eastern Bekaa region.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Saturday that its operations targeted Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon, describing the action as a response to an attempted attack on Israeli troops in the security zone the previous day. The IDF specified that weapons storage facilities used by the Iran-backed militant group were hit and released video footage purporting to show one of the strikes.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Friday that military operations aimed at thwarting terrorism are continuing with full intensity across Lebanon, Gaza, and the West Bank.
The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has persisted since March, escalating after the group launched rocket attacks in retaliation for the death of former Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Israel responded by renewing aerial strikes on Lebanon and initiating a ground invasion.
The civilian toll is heartbreaking. Fifteen injured is a heavy price for military objectives.
Will the strikes ever actually reduce rocket fire, or just deepen the cycle of violence? Need answers.
The IDF video claims are vague. We need independent verification before judging these ‘targeted’ operations.
It’s terrifying how close this conflict is getting to our borders. Hopefully diplomacy wins soon.
