Clucky Alarm App Uses Rooster Crows and Missions to Fight Snoozing

A new iPhone application called Clucky is targeting habitual snoozers by replacing standard alarm tones with the sound of a crowing rooster and requiring users to complete tasks before silencing the alarm. The app joins a competitive market of productivity-focused wake-up tools like Alarmy and Awake, which utilize obstacles to prevent users from easily returning to sleep.

While the rooster option serves as the app’s primary novelty feature, Clucky also provides traditional sounds such as gentle chimes, bird songs, and digital beeps. An “Extra Loud Mode” is available for users who need a more aggressive auditory cue at the start of the day.

To turn off the alarm, users must engage in one of several wake-up missions. These range from solving math problems and memorizing tile sequences to physical activities like doing push-ups, walking, or shaking the device. Other challenges include typing out spoken instructions, tilting a ball toward a goal, or completing AI-powered camera tasks.

The application includes a detailed tracking dashboard that monitors the average time taken to dismiss an alarm, the total number of missions completed, and overall wake-up frequency. Users also receive a weekly “Rooster Report” that grades their performance.

Social accountability is another key component, featuring a “Nest” or “Flock” function that allows friends and family members to form private alarm groups. This feature enables users to wake up simultaneously and keep each other accountable.

Clucky was founded by Adrian Angelo Abelarde, a former software engineer at Fanatics. The app is currently available on the App Store, with a premium subscription tier priced at $39.99 per year.
