President Donald Trump issued a stark directive to the Federal Reserve on Friday, calling for an immediate reduction in interest rates and warning that he would suspend trade with nations maintaining a surplus with the United States if the demand is not met.
The announcement was made via a post on Truth Social, where Trump responded to a monthly jobs report that significantly exceeded market expectations. In the message, he challenged the central bank and its chairman, Kevin Warsh, to “get smart” and proceed with rate cuts.
This development marks a direct confrontation between the executive branch and the Federal Reserve regarding monetary policy decisions.
