Girl group Katseye received a hero’s welcome at London’s O2 Arena, proving they have become pop’s biggest streaming property even while two members are on health-related hiatus. The audience erupted with screams before the show began as the band broadcast their music videos on the venue’s big screens, with the noise barely dipping for the next three hours.
Currently the most-streamed act on YouTube UK, the group performed with Manon Bannerman and Sophia Laforteza missing due to health reasons. While the stage felt emptier without them, bandmates worked hard to fill the gaps, hyping up the crowd with bass-heavy pop anthems and jaw-dropping dance breaks.
“Are you happy to see us?” asked Yoonchae Jeong, the band’s youngest member, as if the answer wasn’t obvious from the moment they appeared in a storm of laser lights. The group launched into the Brazilian funk workout of Hootie Frutti to thunderous approval.
Megan Skiendiel marvelled at the crowd response: “I think you guys are our loudest crowd ever, literally.” Lara Raj added: “This crowd is unbelievable.”
The concert marked only the second date of the Wildworld tour, but fans already knew every twist and turn from social media. There was even a cheer of relief when Daniela Avanzini survived a complicated lift in the dance routine for Gabriella, after her dance partner dropped her on the opening night.
Honestly impressive how they kept the energy up with just four members. That lift scare on opening night must have been terrifying for Daniela!
I’m amazed their streaming numbers are this high, but shouldn’t health come first? Hope Sophia and Manon feel better soon so they can rest properly.
The O2 crowd was absolutely electric! ‘Hootie Frutti’ hits different when you know they pushed through despite everything. Katseye for life!
Is it really that shocking they’re still performing while short two members? Seems like the tour is prioritizing profit over the group’s well-being.
Was there on Friday! The screams were insane. Even without the full lineup, you could feel their professionalism. What a show!
